Wish I could have before and after photos but we will be living with a hole in our wall for a week or two. We still need to go this weekend to pick out the travertine or marble for the hearth and surround. Yesterday they came with sledgehammers (well, it sounded like that anyway) and demo’d our existing fireplace. As I told you, I’ve always hated it because it’s white brick, has no mantle and has an odd center of drywall. Here’s the before photo. Continue Reading »

Today is the day that the workers are coming to demo our old fireplace. We’ve already been warned it will be noisy and messy. I don’t care because I’m just so happy to get this long-delayed project underway. Getting a new fireplace and mantle has become a running joke because I’ve wanted a new one since we moved here back in 1978! I’ll make sure to get before, during and after photos.
