Captain Mills, you’ve just retired…. what are you going to do next? “I’m going to Disneyland!” Well, at least Mrs. Mills is going to Disneyland. Jessica and Pat are taking Ryan and Jacob for their first trip to Disneyland today and I don’t want to miss that! Jeff will be tied up in the morning finishing up at the fire station so he’s probably not going to join us. He’s going to play it by ear and if he’s done early enough, he might just drive on down and find us there.

Thinking of a title for this post, I considered, “End of an Era” but decided to take the more positive approach. Today is Jeff’s last day, the last 24 hours of his beloved career as a firefighter. He couldn’t have had an occupation that he loved more. Without his knowledge, there has been a little surprise planned for his last day. The Bel Air Homeowners Association is putting on a luncheon for him today at the Bel Air Country Club. On Wednesday morning, he will turn in his badge, turnouts and helmet and start his life as a civilian. New beginnings. Continue Reading »

We had a great time on our wine tasting trip to Temecula. Some of our favorite wineries to visit are Wilson Creek Winery where we tasted their almond champagne and South Coast Winery which has won best winery in California two years in a row beating out Napa-Sonoma wineries. They have beautiful grounds and they are very popular places for weddings. At another of our stops, I had to jump on a tractor and pose for this photo for my Farmville friends. Continue Reading »
