Rest of the Wallet Story…

Since I prewrite my blog entries, I didn’t have the rest of the lost wallet story until now. When the sheriff called Tuesday afternoon, he asked Jeff for his cell number and said he’d call when they got back to the sheriff substation. Well, it was getting late and no phone call. Jeff started second-guessing the phone call. What if it really wasn’t a sheriff but some elaborate scheme? He said that he could hear what sounded like a police radio in the background of the call. I told him he was paranoid! Why would anyone who found your wallet bother to call you up? He said, “Maybe to stop me from canceling all my credit cards?” Hmm, well what would the chances be that a person who would stumble upon your wallet would have that diabolical of a scheme in mind… down to having a police radio in the background? He called the sheriff substation before he went to bed and there was no sign of his wallet. Now he even got me to wondering… Anyway, long story, long… the sheriff who had the wallet called Jeff’s cellphone early Wednesday morning and said he was at our local deli and still had the wallet with him. Jeff’s at the firestation so he calls me and tells me that they’re waiting for me to come get the wallet! Great! It’s a little after 7 AM and I’m dressed in just a long beach tank coverup since I’m already starting my morning Roomba-ing, Scooba-ing, shaking out the dog beds, etc… Throw on some clothes, a quick makeup application and out the door I go! They’re waiting for me in the parking lot and ask for my ID to make sure I’m who I say I am. I asked if I could buy them breakfast and, as I figured, they declined. They apologized for not getting back to us the day before but they were babysitting a dead body of a teenage girl (story and video HERE) all day that was discovered in our local hills. I asked who found the wallet and they told me a construction worker. They didn’t have his name so I don’t have anyway of thanking or rewarding him for his honesty and kindness. And yes, all the money, credit cards and ID’s were in the wallet!

    Hi sweetie
Sorry for not visiting earlier these last days. Boy, it’s been busy for me, and I see the last days’ve been busy for you too !! Oh no, a lost wallet is NEVER fun, specially when there are lots of important papers & cash too. I don’t know if people are that honest here. (sad to say that, hey ?!) Anyway, that’s absolutely fabulous that someone honest found it & got it back. Phew, what a relief !!!
Thanks for the book advice, I’ll have a look at it, as soon as my mom will arrive. (this morning)

Hi Darylynn, Jeff must be so relieved to have his wallet back. I imagine how he felt when he didn’t hear from the sheriff again. I had troubles visiting you until now, your server was down. Happy 4th of July, hugs

Hi Darylynn – I guess I would have been just a little bit afraid to meet them to get the wallet (now I am like Jeff & being paranoid???). It’s so sad that you can’t trust everyone anymore. So glad that you had a good turnout of this story. I did smile at Jeff’s thinking on this…so funny. How sad about the young girl that was found dead. It especially sickens me when I hear about young kids over-dosing (if this is the reason she died). Have a wonderful 4th!! Hugs!

    Hi There,
I am so glad it turned out well. It does restore one’s faith in mankind a little. I am too old to fully recover.

So sorry about the girl and her family. We just had someone die this afternoon around the corner. On their way home, the pulled over, got out of the car and died. They think of natural causes.

I hope you have fun tomorrow at Justin’s. HUGS

I can see why Jeff thought it was some rogue with an evil scheme! My mind works like that, it’s sad, but it’s not a bad thing to be extra cautious these days.

Glad it all had a good conclusion though. Didn’t visit anyone yesterday, am trying soooooo hard not to get distracted so I can get on with the sewing. I am totally determined to finish it so I can cross it off my list!

Happy 4th July to you, I hope you don’t get stuck in traffic! xxxx
