Art Galleries

Toni often posts about artists so I thought I’d tell you about an artist we discovered on our Carmel trip that we liked a lot. We are looking for a painting for over our new fireplace. It needs to be rectangular about 3 feet wide by 2 feet high approximately. Carmel is noted for it’s many art galleries so it was a perfect place to browse. Jeff and I seem to have similar taste in art and we both wanted something that would remind us of the Carmel/ Big Sur area that we love so much. We also want something with vivid colors that would be a real focal point. We liked this artist very much. He is French and the one drawback we found was that he’s never really been to the Carmel/ BigSur area so he paints from photographs that the gallery sends to him. I can only imagine how amazing his work would be if he actually visited this spectacular area. Here’s a link to Louis Magre’s paintings. They are far more beautiful in person because they are oil paintings so have great dimension. There were different paintings in the gallery but the ones that we relate to are Carmel Inspiration, Carmel Beauty and Pebble Beach Sunset. Maybe someday we’ll visit France and will relate more to those paintings.

    :peekingin I love the paintings and it would be so hard to try to choose one :O) but I especially like the ones your referring to. Carmel must be so special to visit. So glad you had a nice and safe visit and are back home. It’s wise of you not to say when you left.

    Oh there is nothing wrong with my screen resolution lol, i didn’t notice it until after i downloaded google chrome after we set up the new computer, but your right it really doesn’t matter and I’m not going to fret over it. i just won’t ever put another header up HAHAHAH :roflol or I know, I could make it a lot smaller for IE. hmmm

    wow it says it’s 57 degrees where you are. I wonder what that would do to my system if I felt temps like that after this inferno were in. It’s still 90 degrees, and it’s 11:30 at night. were hot as the you know what :evil: We got back about an hour ago from walking Rochester and all three of us couldn’t wait to get back. Wish I could turn that darn air conditioning off!

    talk to you soon ! gotta get :sleep

    Hi Darylynn,
    I love his vibrant colors. You didn’t get one for above your fireplace? I got a very cute painting called “slumber party” when I was on Lake Tahoe. It is in one of my posts after I came back from our trip. It is so cute I have it in my bedroom. The artist’s name is Lynn Kessinger and her website is: http://lynnkessinger.com/default.aspx.
    Have a wonderful Thursday.
    Hugs, Dru

    Hi Darylynn, these sure are vibrant colors, it would make your living room brighter. A friend of ours made paintings for the dining room area, it sure helps to have the same tastes in art. I hope you enjoy your cool days ;) Hugs

    Hi Darylynn;

    Louis Magre’s paintings are wonderful! The colors are truly vibrant. I think I’ll feature one of them on one of my Tuesday art forms entries. The couple of times I visited Carmel with my brother, I loved it! It really is one of the prettiest places in CA. Thanks for the info my friend. Hugs

    HI Darylynn is the place on the left side of the street walking towards to beach in Carmel or the right? I know of two galleries there, those are the two I go to a lot.
    I like the Carmel Inspirations a lot that is really pretty. I love vivid colors. How odd he has not been to Carmel. I didn’t check to see where he is from or (She), but those are gorgeous paintings.
    I think it will look really nice over your fireplace.
    I think it’s great you and Jeff agree on art, I don’t think Steve and I could agree on a painting for over the fireplace we would both have to sacrifice, but maybe not? I don’t even know what we would want but it would be a beach scene for sure, but then I would have to change my decorations in that room.
    Have a great evening. big hugs

    Oh, I love those paintings. The colors are so rich and vivid. I was drawn to the Pebble Beach painting the most. Really beautiful.
